Having metal or stone boats would require a form of power slightly more advanced than what we have. It'd require some form of steam power, as the closest form of power to our current technology. Or metal boats could be held with a redstone -> energy converter relying on magic, which would probably require large tests amongst the elves. Praecantatio magic works like this: When one utters a word of power, they are transforming redstone to pure energy and shaping it with a bit of their own energy. The word they utter is a focus word for their thoughts and energy, allowing them to send power to the redstone, activating it and turning it into raw power which reacts with the environment in a certain way; ie. uttering "fulmen" splits the redstone into a positive and negative charge, with one of the charges in the sky and the other in the vicinity of the direction you're aiming at. Lightning forms as the charges fly together. So what is this?

Mineshaft, I think
Also, Clue, growing jungle trees is horribly OOC. Those things are huge and take hundreds of years to grow.

Well, its not like they are going to last long. Think about it this way, I am traveling to the jungle and cutting down trees IC, but in reality I am cutting down my home grown trees OoC.

No growing jungle trees, it would take far too long.
@scud, that is Umune's attempt to cover up the hideous hole in the middle of the ocean created by Ozz (and Key?) It was horribly OoC and stood out like a sore.

@cat, thanks for that. @scud, its' not a powered device, it's just a cover or hatch over the hole.

Because it's supposed to be a drill. I built the drill, not the mine shaft. I apologize on behalf of ozz for his horribly OOC shaft. It is supposed to be an oil rig of some sort...just an inadequate explanation for the massive hole in the ocean. Feel free to regenerate the blocks or something, but I want to tear down my drill first.

It's meant to look like a drill, but it's actually not. It works via water flow pushing the turbine around? (Feel free to explain it, this is a crappy temp answer, because i don't feel like figuring out how it'd work InRP)
