So Berem, Vani, and Doom were hanging around on Berem's ship. Vani was asking about Berem's arg heart, and Doom was explaining about it and how it works. A discussion started on whether you could find a way to cast a spell into one, which lead to thinking about a way to make objects that cast a spell when activated. Through some experimentation, Vani and Berem figured out a way to make diamonds that can be activated to cast a spell. The process involves enchanting the diamond with the spell as well as inscribing the diamond, so it is not an easy thing to do. Berem designed a device to hold and activate the diamond. It is an iron tube with the diamond held in the end, and redstone running through the tube. The end opposite the diamond bends to make a handle, and there is a hole to place the redstone reserve needed to activate the spell that must be replaced after each shot, and a small lever that is pulled to activate the device. Berem said they should call it a "pistol," as the was a Jaska word for "short cannon." Vani came up with a general name for just the gems, Gem Utilizing eNchantments, or GUN for short, as GUE didn't sound right.
TL;DR + Clarification Ash and I invented diamond that can cast spells when redstone activated, these are just rped, they aren't an actual thing. The "pistol" which Berem now carries is just a book bound with fulmen, but it is rped as a pistol. Reloading = Spell cooldown, Need redstone to fire = Redstone cost.

Yes, but no. Its just a metal tube that has a diamond on the end and "shoots" fulmen. Its just an rp way for non-mages to use magic.

Its just an rp way for non-mages to use magic. Ahh, but magic is for mages.

Which is why non-magicians can go to berem for the pistol. I probably need to fix Praecantatio so he can give the book away. Maybe if I were to switch the item to a lever, and then make it damage-dependent. That'd work!

So why do we have mages?

Its not like I am going to be giving these things away willy-nilly. They require a master enchanted to make the diamond, which Berem is not, he just makes the guns. Despite this new development, magic will always be more readily available to mages, because these are hard to get and you must have the item (currently a book), whereas mages only need to know the spell.

Cat, have you been on the server and chosen the mage class? Fulmen is a simple spell but mages have tons of different spells. Such as telekinesis which lets you pull levers and stuff from afar. There are many other spells in the mage classes which I cant remember.

They are made out of the same materials as the pistol, and its not like compasses are very useful otherwise, so people could re-texture them into pistols or rifles if they wanted.

For the record, I'm not a fan of this. But that doesn't matter unless umune isn't either.

May I ask why you are not a fan?

Why would this be a bad Idea? The people who dont know magic have to be kinda underpowered?
