[Insert paragraph explaining what prompted this and why I want to write it, include reference to when I mentioned it in rp so cat doesn't rage]
All races believe in the same gods, but each race has other separate beliefs. I'm making up some Jaska ones.
Jaska Beliefs:
Reincarnation: Jaska believe that when you die, you are reincarnated. It is akin to Hindu reincarnation in that you can move up and down the ranks. If you are bad, you may become lowly creatures, such as squid, which is why these animals are okay to kill. If you are good, you can become a Moon Mystic, which is the closest you can get the the Jaska equvilant of Nirvana without actually being there. If you lived in troubled times, you may be reborn as an octopus, turtle, or tortoise, animals which are holy to the Jaska. When a Moon Mystic dies, they either become reborn to continue serving the goddess, or they go to her, at the Jaska nirvana, which is
The Moon: The moon, holy to the Jaska, is their final after life. They believe as well as terrain made of white rock, there is white dirt and white grass and white trees and most importantly, white oceans, and it is said swimming in these oceans gives the greatest sense of pleasure possible.
There is a Jaska holy book, I haven't come up with a name.
The Jaska also have a myth about a land that rests on the back of a giant turtle that wanders the world. This is one possible explanation of what Skalas is.
The Gift of Remembrance
As noted the Jaska believe in reincarnation. They also believe that extremely rarely, a soul is given the gift of remembrance, which allows the souls current occupant to remember all their past lives. To keep the bearer of the gift sane, they only have the memories up to their age. For example, if a 24 year old Jaska has the gift of remembrance, and one of his ancestors lived to 200, he still only remembers the first 24 years of that ancestors life. However, the Moon Mystics can perform a ritual that unlocks all the memories of ancestors past, but only the extremely strong of will survive.
Ever noticed how Berem calls even elves kids?
