Must get nerdage out of system. Hopefully someone here likes Starcraft lol.
This is a match from the Korea vs. World match at the GSL World Championship. It was a best of 15 between eight qualified international players and eight qualified Koreans. A player on one side continued playing until he was beaten and eliminated. It served to offer an answer to the question: are Koreans really the best?
Day 1 did not go well for the Koreans. The international players went 4-2 taking out most importantly MarineKing. At the end of the day, TT1 had eliminated his second Korean player.
The next day the Koreans decided to play their ace, MC. MC had just became the first Protoss to win a GSL (GSL is biggest Korean tournament) and was widely regarded to be the best player in the world. Sure enough, he took out TT1 convincingly with Stalker play without breaking a sweat. The internationals decided to play Ukranian Protoss White-ra.
White-ra was easily the most senior player on both sides, having played competitive Brood War since its release in 1999. He took the booth amidst cries of 'Special Tactics' from supporters.
This is what follows.
MC opts for a 4-gate and fast blink stalkers while Ra drops three gates and a robo facility. As MC takes baby steps into White-ra's main to scout with Stalkers Ra picks a couple off thanks to his Immortal. However MC's econ is strong and eight more stalkers join the survivors. As MC prepares to push a warp prism pops out of Ra's robo and Special Tactics are in order. Two zealots are loaded into the prism and sent over to MC's base. Right as the zealots are dropping, MC tries to push up Ra's ramp with his superior force. White-ra misses a force field, MC's zealots are able to push up the ramp, and with the newfound vision from his zealots MC's stalkers blink into the main. White-ra's immortal is focused down just as a second one pops up. His force is almost destroyed but the zealot drop has injured MC's economy and there are not many reinforcements coming for MC. The immortal buys White-ra enough time before being destroyed to bring his zealots back and drop them onto the stalkers! MC loses stalkers and is pushed down the ramp. He tries to cover his retreat with forcefields from his Sentries but with some amazing micro Ra picks his zealots back up and drops them on the other side. The zealots kill the sentry, but the warp prism is sniped as MC brings in a few more units. White-Ra's ramp is under pressure again but he has had enough time to build another immortal and MC does not have the economy to support the attack. MC tries to regroup but as he scouts with a stalker he finds out that White-ra has built a second warp prism and a second zealot drop forces MC to pull all his probes. With this second drop MC falls severely behind in terms of economy and white-ra is prepared to build colossi. MC has nothing to do but build up a defensive army. He tries to expand but Ra pushes with an army of stalkers and two colossi and the nexus goes down fast. At the same time, White-ra makes a third zealot drop in the main and MC is done. White-ra's main army of stalkers and colossi move into MC's base and MC does not have enough units. With the two pronged attack destroying his main MC is forced to type out the GG after only eliminating a single member of the opposing team.
