NOTE: This will be continual updated as I make up more things or get good suggestions.
All knights and lords of the kingdom are honor bound by the Code of Chivalry. Not even the king can break the code. Code-breakers are punished by banishment or death.
The Code: One shall not lie or tell half-truths, one must be honest in all things. One shall not harm and unarmed or non-resisting enemy. One shall not kill an enemy of high birth, be they lord or knight, but merely take them prisoner for some time. One shall not destroy land or buildings unless they are of unholy purpose. One shall not steal. One shall always be respectful and polite to all men. One shall not leave floating trees, and one shall always replant. One shall not break one's word. One shall n *the rest of the line is heavily smudged*(credit to catplanet)

How rigorously should this be followed? Like clue said, the real world knights were pretty savage.

Well, only those who say they are going to follow it have to follow it, but if they say there are going to and don't, they are banished or put to death. That is in the kingdom of course, I don't know what other places do.
