In RP, would a person who was not an alchemist know a potion from a poison from a bucketful of mead?

Alchemists make gold, not potions. I don't think non-potioneers can tell if you hide it well. If you describe some foamy broth as medicine, I would fall for it, but if you called it orange juice I would see through it.

I don't think this thread belongs here. It belongs in discussion.

Poisons are in bottles and not buckets. I think you mean apothecary.

Alchemists make potions as well as failing at turning lead to gold. Also, potions are colored, so in rp someone might not know what murky dark green potion does, but they can be pretty sure its not good for them if they aren't an idiot.

Well, it blob, many medicines are murky, some are green, and many are dark. So in theory, only an alchemist, (Who turns one thing into another [lead+X=gold, Plant+Plant=Potion/poison]) So actually, I don't think they would know.

However, in minecraft, the poisons are always dark and murky, plus it can be argued that even if it was medicine, a common peasant knows you don't drink murky water, you drink clear water, or orange juice. Colorful is good and dark is bad, that's basic instinct. Besides all that, why do you need to trick people into drinking potions? Just use splash potions, then you don't have to bother with trickery.

Because they're easy to dodge and use up gunpowder?

If someone doesn't expect you to throw it its not easy to dodge, and that's easier than trying to trick them into drinking one.

Because sucessfully tricking someone is much more fun. And less obvious.

Also, people have a habit of meta gaming like crazy on this server. Someone would probably just look at the name that comes up when you hover over it.
