I play on two computers, sometimes on my bro's awesome comp and most of the time on my crappy comp. Well it lags even on default texturepack with everything on low, I downloaded an 8x8 texturepack and it lagged even more... But here's the weird thing, I was testing johnsmith 32x32 and I barely lagged, only sometimes I get a lagspike when superaquas is done. Seriously, either minecraft is messed up or my computer is trolling me.

Based on the superaquas thing, I'd suggest messing with particle settings. Even good computers can do worse than bad ones where particle effects are concerned.

Your computer's efficiency when dealing with particle effects is almost completely dependent on how much support you have for OpenGL's quirky 32-bit methods of drawing the particles on the screen. Basically, whether you have a good or bad computer seems to have no effect on how hard particles make you lag.
So turn them off whenever you lag. It might help massively.
